BetterU Challenge

My family and I have been doing the BetterU Challenge for the last 4 weeks and today I thought I'd think back on how I've done. We all have 10 goals per day that we have to mark off on a spreadsheet. Week 5 started yesterday. I've read my scriptures and said my prayers practically every day. For those who know me, this is Huge.

Before the challenge, I was drowning. Spiritually, physically, mentally, and emotionally; I was sinking. I had a 2 month old and I was doing great to get out of bed and shower regularly. Even remembering to eat was hard. I'm sure those are all somewhat normal things to experience after having a child, but I felt like I'd been lazy long enough and didn't know how to start to fix it.

Then came the challenge...

Some goals I've done well in, others not so much. I even envied those that were doing better than I was. Not a great way to look at things, trust me. Once someone I love pointed out that I was looking at things the wrong way, I started to see how much better I'd been doing with everything in my life.

Go figure. Challenge me to "not be lazy" and have me be responsible for marking my own points each day and I seem to be "fixed". Most days, that is. I'm still human, y'all.

I don't know quite how to put it in words, but this challenge has changed me. Don't be too shocked...but I've found I actually like getting things done. Whoa. Did I just admit to that? Out loud and everything, huh? Told ya. Changed.

Once the challenge is over, I don't know how I'm going to keep all this up. I know there's a rumor out there that says if you can stick with something for 2 weeks, you can make or break a habit. I sure hope that's right. Otherwise, I'm sunk.

Well, that's not quite true. My thinking has changed and therefore, I can accomplish....stuff. Cool stuff. Productive stuff. (Something inside me just died for saying the word "productive".)

Anyway, I know that was a really long winded way of saying I've become a better person, but admit it, you'd be bored if I didn't yammer on for a bit.

I'll just leave you with a cute picture of Aaron and Amber taking a nap in the car together.

  1. I LOVE this post. I had to laugh, just today my mom asked how we were going to keep all this up after the challenge and I said we'd just have to do it again...and again...and again...until eternity! Are you in? :) Luv you!

  2. I was just thinking we should keep doing it. We'll just make it a small challenge with us and a few others. No prizes...just the pressure of having to enter a "0" is enough to shame me into doing better.

  3. Amy - I'm SO proud of you! I felt exactly like you before I did my 1st challenge and the challenge did wonders for me. I'm so glad it's doing the same for you. You ARE doing this and I know you can keep it up! Way to go, sweet sister!!
