Today, I taught Zara. She takes voice and piano from me. I've been working with her on getting through a pretty noticeable break in her middle range and her fear of singing above that point. Last week, I had a genius thought and today we reinforced it. Finally today, it paid off. She broke through and I asked her for her feedback. I asked her if she noticed a difference in what she heard and felt. And hallelujah, she did. She was so excited and didn't want to switch over to the piano portion of our lesson. I love that kind of excitement and passion. So I went with it and we sang our whole time together. Sweet moments like these are precious.
Music brings us together. It inspires us. It changes us. It creates confidence. It evokes emotion. It heals us.
This is why I teach. This is why I perform. And this is why I am in love with music.
I love that you sing and I love that you teach now. Being creative is the fun part of teaching. Way to go, Amers!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love teaching moments like that! I've never had a student exactly but I do have my kids so I know what you mean. I love that you love music. Every time you open your mouth to sing it's like the most beautiful parts of you are just flowing out from inside you and filling the room. It always gives me chills. :)
ReplyDeleteHow sweet of you, Christy! I love you both!
