So it snowed for the first time on Tuesday night.. I was not happy about it. Boo Hiss!! Thankfully, it melted. I began to write a christmas song and it was going to be themed around "I hate snow", but then I giggled a little at myself and decided that was a little too hateful. The point of that was to let you know that I wrote another song. It is a Christmas song and no I don't have music for it yet. I have the beginnings of music, but have not had a chance to sit down and write it out or develop it. So hopefully, I'll have the music part done in time for christmas. We'll see. You'll like it though. It's a slow song if that helps. Here it is:
Cold Hands, Warm Heart
Verse 1:
The first snowfall of the year,
Reminds us Christmas is near,
I watch the peaceful snow dance,
Sipping hot chocolate and wassail,
Chorus:
“Cold Hands, Warm Heart”,
An expression of the heart,
Happy to think of others,
The joy of giving sends a thrill through the air,
The spirit of Christ’s love spreads,
United in care for our brothers and sisters,
Satisfying our soul’s desires,
So grateful for harmony on the earth
Verse 2:
The inviting fire warms to the core,
Icy cold weather matters no more,
Whispers of kindness sail effortlessly,
Our own demands seem trivial,
Chorus
Verse 3:
Our souls thrive with pleasure,
Sincerity and passion abound,
Uninhibited laughter overflows,
Creating a contagious atmosphere,
Chorus
Bridge:
Wonderful, Counselor, the Prince of Peace,
Echo through the air,
Sung by a thousand tongues,
Peace on Earth, Goodwill to Men!
Chorus x2
Sing united in harmony,
Blessed to voice gratitude to our King of Kings!
I'm glad to take any suggestions. I don't like some of the wording in certain parts, but as you know a lot of songs end up edited to make the words fit in the end. I'm open to any constructive criticism or show-stopping ideas! Love you!

I love that you're sharing these songs with us! Your talents abound.
ReplyDeleteHey, this is a GREAT start!
ReplyDeleteFew suggestions:
This Line:
The joy of giving sends thrill through the air,
Did you mean to say a thrill? Or thrills?
Also, I don't like "souls blush with color" - it makes it sound like everybody's embarrassed. Unless that's what you want. :)
But overall, this is good. I like the opposites of cold and warm.
I hate cold, too, by the way. Especially snow.
I changed a few things. Hope it's better than it was. Any other suggestions?
ReplyDeleteI had no idea that you had such a talent for writing! I'm no good with words though so I can't offer any suggestions. Glad you are posting them though. It's such a great way to share your thoughts and personality. Love you. Rachel
ReplyDeleteAmy,
ReplyDeleteSo sorry I haven't been on your blog in forever!!!! My sister, Carin, has reprimanded me for not keeping up. Your song is beautiful. I wish I could hear the music to go with it. I am sure it is beautiful, as well.
Love ya!
