Little Thoughts to Larger Realizations

This post is a result of pondering on little realizations that turn into larger thoughts and realizations...Did...that make any sense? Oh well.. Here I go.

I have been jumping around in the Book of Mormon in the past few months. Currently, I'm reading in Alma 21 and 22 (and realizing that a lot of you have already come to this conclusion many moons ago), I realized many little things, but one big thing in particular. Not only is the Book of Mormon another testament of Jesus Christ, His atonement, and His visit to Ancient America; it's about missionary work and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ until every ear has heard it. Yes, yes, I know...I'm slow. I've known it all along, but I suppose this is the moment my testimony has been strengthened...yet again.

The trigger for this thought was my scripture reading this morning and then a comment that was made in gospel doctrine that made the connection for me. We were studying in Jeremiah and we jumped around a bit in Numbers and Deuteronomy, touching on prophesies made by Moses about our day. (I know my thoughts are a little scattered because I had to leave Sunday school early for an interview with Brother Windsor. Sorry.) The foundation of the lesson (that I caught in the short time I was there) was about the gathering of Israel. This of course implies that someone has to help gather the sheep......and who does that?? Come on....who? We do!! :D

This brings me to the REAL point of my post. I have had missionary work weighing heavily on my mind this last year and have felt I should share it with certain people in my life. I've shared it with one so far...I need to do better. I've found strength and courage in the stories of Alma, Ammon, Nephi, Amulek, gosh..you name it...they're all fantastic. Ammon particularly stood out to me today and this put my thoughts into perspective...yet again. (I'm beginning to see a pattern here..)

One big question...Why are we here? I could list a few reasons....but the one I'm thinking of is to bring our brothers and sisters back home. We are here to bring EVERY SOUL back to our Heavenly Father. If we don't do it, well...it won't get done. The Lord needs each and every one of our efforts. It is so important for our eternal progression and theirs!

I'm sure I could ramble for hours on this one topic and I could make some very good points, but talking about it is not getting me anywhere. Doing is what really needs to happen now. I've got one friend reading the Book of Mormon right now (If you want to hear that story, just ask. It's pretty cool.) and I would like to share it with another dear friend. They obviously aren't the only ones that need to hear about the Gospel, but it's a start. Now to plan a course of action....I am open to suggestions. Please email me or leave them in the comments section. I'm happy to hear them all. :) I do have some ideas, but again, your experiences are priceless to me.

I would like to leave you with a challenge to pray for missionary opportunities. (Yes, that was a missionary thing to say..Hooray for me!) I mean it though...pray for the Spirit to lead you to those who are ready to hear these wonderful, simple truths. Your life will be blessed and every effort is worth it. Do your part and the Lord will do His. That is a promise I can testify the truth of.
