Then after that they showed a General Conference address by Thomas S. Monson in 2005 about Joseph Smith. It got me thinking and then I realized...the 166th anniversary of Joseph Smith's Martyrdom is coming up on June 27th. What a day to remember! So this sunday, remember Joseph Smith and all he did for each and every one of us. A true prophet of the Lord that restored the gospel to the earth through the power of the priesthood and revelation.
My testimony of the restoration has grown so much just by reading the accounts of what happened. If you really want to know what happened (filled in with fictional characters to make the story flow), I really suggest you read this series. Yes, it's long and it's detailed, but it is worth it. I have the first 6 books if you want to borrow. I also recommend "The History of Joseph Smith By His Mother Lucy Mack Smith". Also a very good historical read. Lucy Mack Smith (and Emma Smith too) was a woman of magnificent strength and fortitude. She and Emma had to endure so much heartache and terror throughout their lives. I don't think I could have made it at that time. I don't think I'd be strong enough to endure what they did. Good thing they were chosen to precede us so that we could follow their examples.
I am not finished with the series yet, but I can tell you that I am excited to see the story unfold. I already know about certain events that came about, but to have them told in chronological order with information from eye witnesses and journals etc is just amazing. I have to say that the author (Gerald N. Lund) has done some amazing research (with the help of others of course). Even the fictional characters seem to belong. They have depth and real life tragedy. The things that happen to them are realistically portrayed and would have been typical of life back then.
Anyway..I'm done blabbing. Also..how can I forget?
CONGRATULATIONS TO MY SISTER RACHEL ON GETTING ENGAGED!!!! I LOVE YOU!!!
